Learn that word embeddings (Word2Vec, GloVe) give each word a list of numbers, so similar words are close together ('king' near 'queen', 'refund' near 'reimbursement'). Try similarity and the famous king − man + woman ≈ queen. See the big limit: one vector per word, so 'bank' (river) and 'bank' (money) look the same — context is missing.
