Extract text page by page and keep metadata (file name, page number). Clean headers, footers and broken lines. Split into chunks of about 500 tokens with 50–100 tokens overlap, preferably along headings and paragraphs, so each chunk is one idea. Look at 10 chunks to check they make sense.
